I have just recently had my second mastectomy.  In July. 2006, I was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In situ in my right breast.  It was the size of a grain of sand.  I decided to have a mastectomy with immediate reconstruction(tramflap).  I did great, it was a very successful surgery.  However, due to helping take care of my dad, who was suffering from terminal CLL leukemia, I pulled on him too soon after my surgery which caused me to develop a hernia. My dad passed away May 8, 2008, and following his death, I had hernia repair surgery.  Then due to the lack of musle on my left side, I developed another hernia, or it moved.  I had a second hernia surgery in Oct.. 2008. The mesh had to be attached to my ribcage.  I still have trouble with it.  Then in Nov. 2009 I fell and broke my right wrist and had to have surgery with 4 pins put in..  I went for my annual exam,(April 12, 2010) and my doctor discovered a lump, which I had not been aware of, he immediately contacted my surgeon, then I had digital mammogram, and Ultra sound, and needle biopsy.  The pathologist report showed high grade intraductal carcinoma in situ.  I had a mastectomy and had expander put in(May 17, 2010). I go tomorrow to plastic surgeon to have the JP drain taken out, and start the expanding of the breast for the implant.
