connection between interrupted treatment and recurrence?

Options

thought i'd start an informal poll and see how many have had a recurrence and also had an interruption in their treatments?

i'm just trying to search for some answers that seeminly cannot be found.  i'm on TCH x 6 and #4 was not given due to my numbers being too low.  also the onc is going to reduce the dose by about 15-20 percent.

i don't know what this is going to do for my long term NED and i cannot find any studies that have been done on women who had recurrences and histories of interrupted treatment.

thanks in advance.

M--I was in treatment over the Christmas holidays in 08 and the configuration of the long weekends prompted my oncology clinic to close on my normal treatment day, Friday.  They told me I could skip a week, but I was concerned (and a little annoyed).  So I looked up the study and printed out the protocol it supported.  And took it to the clinic.  My p.a. went through it with me and pointed out that the protocol required xx number of infusions within xx period of time.  It turns out that the average patient will miss a treatment, or even two.  The efficacy rate that the study supports assumes some missed infusions.

Reducing the dose is, I imagine is similarly discretionary.  The assumption is that if he doesn't reduce the dose, you could miss more infusions beyond your discretionary few.

It sounds like you are normal, which is what the studies and recurrence rates speak to.

Warmest regards and hope you are doing well,

    Cathy

After my very first AC - I developed febrile neutropenia and cellulitis in my healing breast - had a huge lumpectomy.  My second dose was put off to 3 weeks instead of the normal 2 and all remaining 3 doses of AC were reduced.  I then had my first of 4 Taxols - supposed to be 2 weeks apart, and developed instant neuropathy!  Onc switched me to Taxotere for the rest of the treatments at 3 weeks apart (not reduced).  So I don't really know where I stand either especially since I'm triple neg.  But all the doctors involved in my treatment claimed it would not matter (easy for them to say).
