Follow up after mastectomy?

One year ago I had a mastectomy on right breast due to DCIS.  Diagnosis was necrosis, highly aggressive, and lymph nodes were clear.  My follow up was just a mammogram on remaining breast...one year later.  Should I be having any other tests, or is this the norm?  Thanks for any insight you might have!

My follow-on was an appointment every 6 months for a physical exam - basically they patted down my surgery area, under the arm and the good breast, and tamoxifen.

Tamoxifen isn't a given for DCIS, but the six month exam was. You don't have to see an Oncologist, your GYN or PCP can do the physical exam, but it is part of the NCCN standard.

I had a bi-lateral mast. in 2007 for DCIS Grade 3 lymph nodes negative and negative BRCA.  My bs didn't prescribe any mammo's after the bi-lateral  just an annual MRI.  For the first 2 years it was an MRI once every year and a full physical exam (full blood work up including estrodiol and because I am ER+) every 6 months.  Now I don't have to go back to my bs unless something shows up on the MRI.. so far so good!   So just MRI's for me as per both bs..and the MRI is for DCIS follow up not implant checking (although they do that at the same time)..  Good luck!

Thank you for your reply.  I guess I will research what the NCCN standard is.  Thanks again.

my bs wants me in every 6 months for the next 5 yrs and then once a year there after.  I think she will just do a 'hands-on' exam but not 100% sure.
