DCIS - Bilateral Diep Flap + Insurance

Hello All,

This is my first post. I have had DCIS diagnosis in left breast in 2 areas, 1 biopsied, high nuclear grade. I am waiting for BRCA test results, and I've seen one surgeon so far.

Mother had BC age 42 (in 1972 radical mast) then recurrance 1997, now deceased. My maternal aunt also had BC & had used hormones for years.

 Two close friends went through DCIS last year, one with lumpectomy then Bilateral Mast, and the other directly to Bilateral Mast. Both chose DIEP FLAP.

I can only find experience IN-NETWORK Diep Flap surgeons in NYC. Two plastic surgeons I saw on Long Island lied to me about their ability to to Diep Flap. Now I am paranoid about what Oxford will or will not pay for, and hidden costs. Another colleague also had unilateral Diep Flap and said Oxford didn't pay for the private duty nurse who must monitor the doppler blood flow right after surgery while in ICU.

Is this appropriate to discuss on the forum, and if ok, does anyone else have any advice or information about Diep Flap and insurance coverage?
