Hello.

I was recently searching for information about a local cancer charity to find out if it is legit.  (After my search, I'm not convinced that it is legit.)  I've also seen this topic come up in some threads.  I thought that I'd pass along a resource for charity research.  It is from the U. S. Office of Personnel Management (a federal government agency).

This page has faq's about researching the legitimacy a charity: www.opm.gov/cfc//html/qfd.asp

This page can be used to search for charities (national and DC area charities): www.cfcnca.org

The charity search does not have the extensive information that Charity Navigator has, but it's a quick way to check the charity's overhead percentage.
