Insulin Potentiation Therapy

Options

Hi All,

Has anyone heard of it? Even better actually used it? I have not been diagnosed stage 4 yet but I think I am on my way to join the club. I have read about it quite a bit online but can't find too many testimonials.

I had a VERY hard time with regular chemo first time around and know that I can't take it if I needed to. Any information is greatly appreciated.

    Hi JerseyMom,

Hopefully your concern about mets will be a moot point.  I'm triple neg too, and of course I'm worried about the possibility, but I'd sure do a lot of research before agreeing to IPT, which basically is an attempt to use insulin plus a very minimal chemo dosage.  Triple negative BC has been shown to respond quite favorably to chemotherapy in general.  Plus, with the newer drugs like the PARPs, there may be some better options.

IPT therapy has been discussed before.  The bottom line is that it's a completely unproven treatment that is specifically *not* recommended by the ACS, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and other well-respected health professionals.   I tried a Google search on the term, and I didn't see anything at all to support it with facts and research.

But you indicate that you were looking for testimonials, so I'm not quite sure of your question since testimonials are often used in place of facts by unscrupulous salespeople or shills.

There are different chemos and treatments for stage IV patients that are sometimes different than for earlier stages, so maybe there's a different chemo or treatment that wouldn't cause so many problems for you if, heaven forbid, you were to develop mets.

In any case, I understand your fear.  I try not to fixate on the possibilities of recurrence but I'm also a realist, always looking out for the latest research!

    Best of luck!
