My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer after being treated for mastitis for 5 months.

This is so frustrating! It takes so long to get answers!  First she was told it was invasive ductile carcinoma, not inflammatory breast cancer, then her oncologist wants to do one more biopsy just to be sure...CT scans on Saturday...at least her bone scan came back "clean", so that is one bit of good news. I just wish they would hurry up and start treatment already!

And it is not fair to want them to hurry up. She refused mammograms for 15 years because her first and only one "hurt", and she said flat out a few years ago when I was riding her about it, "I would rather get cancer than have another mammogram!" Well, hello...I actually had to accept then that this would probably happen, and now it has. But...well, I'm sure others are in the same place. I'm a little angry. Not getting preventative care might have robbed my toddlers of their grandmother...and now there is more stalling because she is refusing to go back to the surgeon who misdiagnosed her (which I understand) and the hmo doesn't want to send her to a different doctor for the biopsy...

And then there is the fear it is hereditary. Now I have a family history in a primary whatchamacallit. I'll be getting my first mammogram at my next annual, and I am so afraid...

*sigh* Cancer sucks. God, just let it be treatable...Thanks for letting me vent.
