Smooth, Seamless Mastectomy bras?
I had a uni-mx in Feb. I have an Amoena light prosthesis. I have purchased numerous mastectomy bras to try and have returned most of them. The only one I have found so far that I kept was an Amoena 2115. I have found that a lot of the mx bras I have tried are not true to size -- seem to run smaller. I like the 2115 ok, but need some that are seamless. I am a 44D. Do any of you have any suggestions for something with smooth seamless cups that offer good coverage and are comfortable? I have lost count of how many I have ordered and tried and sent back. Should have asked this question on here first and probably saved myself a lot of trouble!
Thanks in advance for any replies.

I had the Mona style from Amoena 4 years ago. It was attractive (I thought) and has a smooth cup, but I was always uncomfortable with the side seams. I don't wear any forms or bras now, and am much more comfortable, but that's not what you asked! Good luck!

If you like your Amoena 2115, you might like the Jada, also called Amoena 2149, which is seamless. I'm wearing it right now. It's a light yet supportive bra. Amoena also makes some other seamless styles. I also really like the Anita Gloria bra, #5382. ABC also makes a number of seamless bras -- their T-shirt bra is quite popular.

Like Barbara, I am wearing the Jada as I type as well. It is very comfortable, soft and seamless. I tried another bra last year, but it seemed to dig into me more and was nowhere near as comfortable as the Jada. It provides full coverage while not being matronly and looks great under tshirts or blouses.

Hi Raye,
You might remember that I always liked this bra, but the side bones (stays) got uncomfortable after a few hours. I'd been wearing it with size 3 forms. Recently, I decided to try it with my larger size 4 Silique Comfort Lites. Because the size 4s have a larger footprint, they add some softness to the sides where the stays are and now they don't dig into me.
I'm thrilled because I like the way this bra looks with tee shirts, plus I enjoy the slightly larger look of the size 4s. As you know, the cup has a lot of flexibiity, so can accommodate a slightly larger form.
This is one reason why I don't immediately give away bras that don't seem to fit. Sometimes a different form in the same bra can make all the difference.

Anita 5756 is also a great seamless one. Super comfortable and very cute.
Barbara is correct about the Anita Gloria. That is also one of my favorites.
I have recentlly been wearing the ABC 501-seamless with convertible straps so I am able to wear it with racerback style tank tops/shirts.
I'm not sure I have an Amoena Jada-although I don't know how that is possible since I thought I tried every mast. bra ever made-lol! I may have to check that one out.

I've tried on the Jada and found I wasn't too thrill with how it squished my remaining boob on the sides. It seemed to push everything to the front, and it just didn't look right to me. I wear an A cup, and it just wasn't full enough on the sides. It seemed to come up pretty far on the sides, too. I suspect that it would have been uncomfortable after wearing it for a while. The fitter commented that it "had good compression", and I've found that bras that do that become uncomfortable very quickly.

mthomp2020,
I had the same reaction to the Jada (well, not the squishy part, since I don't have a natural breast, but the discomfort) in the past. Now that I've tried it with my larger and lighter Comfort Lites, it's amazing the difference it makes for me. I think it's because the forms come between my underarms and the side stays, which previously irritated me.
Carol,
Not sure whether or not you'll like the Jada. It's a lot of bra, at least when I put it on and look in the mirror. And the straps are wide. Yet, when I wear a fitted tee shirt over it, it creates a very nice smooth look for me. I usually like petite bras, but with the right forms, this one works for me.

I like the Anita Florence and Alicia. the Florence is neutral and I find it comfortable all day. The Florence is the same, but I love the look, black with grey trim and pretty straps so it doesn't matter if they show a bit. The Amoena Lara is a great tshirt bra, soft cup no underwire and when I had a natural breast it worked well with both. I love the Amoena Leah? it has lost of lace trim, soft cups, lacy convertible straps and comes with clear ones as well.

Is there a Nordstrom's anywhere near you? After several years of trying, I could never find a seamless mx bra that fit me. At Nordstrom's I found several regular ones that worked, and they sewed the pocket in for free. Part of the cost of the bra was covered by my insurance, but they were a little pricey. But fit me oh so much better than the mx bras I had tried. Good luck.

I just recently purchased 2 t-shirt bras from Nicola Jane, after reading Carol's thread on buying a bathing suit through them. So far, they're the most comfortable I've found. Plus the bras are convertable and come with a set of clear straps. They're priced in the $30-something range. The only real drawback is they're from the UK, so if you wanted to return them it would be a bit of a pain and expense. Fortunately, they worked out really well, and look really good under knits.

I ended up, after trying many different bras, buying American Breast Care's style #116. It is very comfy.

Did you try any of the Classique or Nearly Me Bras, there are some 44D there that are seamless.
-
I used to wear a few of the Classique brand bras that were seamless. Very comfortable and supportive for me, but I was only a 36B. Sorry - hope that helps or at least gives you a different brand to look at.

I suspect that different bras will work depending on whether you are on the larger or smaller side. I am on the larger side (I wear size 7 or 8 forms) and I have found one seamless bra that actually works for me. It's the Amoena Performance 0654 (it's listed on the Amoena site as #2654 - not sure why). It's a sports bra, so it won't work if you want something more flirty and feminine. But if you just want to be comfortable, this one may work for you. I also understand that they are coming out with more colors in the fall - right now it's just in black and white. The only drawback is that the fabric in between the cups comes up a little high, so it won't work if you have a lower cut top.

I second cornelalum's post about the comfort of the Amoena Performance Sports Mastectomy Bra #2654. It works for me and I'm a very small-framed person. Plus, it isn't really a heavily influenced "sports" type bra - I think it is more of a "hybrid". It's very very comfy, supports well, breathes well and is excellent at wicking away moisture due to sweating.
Only thing with me is: I am so thin after the surgery and mid-chemo that the high mid-front piece, that cornellalum notes in her post above, contacted my sternum and chafed a bit, when it was new. I haven't had a problem since I washed it, but I wish Amoena would look into making that middle piece a little softer right at the top edge.
I just noticed when trying to find the link that the size just goes to 42 so it might not work for Faith316? I find this bra runs almost true, but slightly small. Here's the link & I'm happy to hear more colors await! Amoena Performance #2654
