ksmatthews - I haven't had periods since chemo ended two years ago but had some bleeding last fall and my GP had me in for a pelvic US and everything was fine. My MO says it's not out of the ordinary as the hormones settle and menopause sets in.

Titan - this is a  wonderful  thread that you started.  I couldn't do without it now and I come on every chance I get to see if there are any new posts.  The ladies on here, including yourself,  have helped me so much since I joined and I couldn't do without you all now.   Although we don't get to meet each other we do get to share so much together and get to share in the ups and downs as all good friends do.   This thread is like a second family for me and I don't want to be without it. Although we have lost so many beautiful ladies to this disease and yes we still miss them, others have come on board  You can't go anywhere yet you mean so much to me and to others and I  need you too. So stay right where you are.   Annie

Everyone - My mom is 82 years old and lives in New Zealand.  She had been coughing a whole lot so had a CT scan done. I guess in NZ, when they do a CT scan, the reports show all abnormalities in the chest region.  While the reason for the cough is some small fibrosis in the lungs (not a serious condition), they also saw a lesion in her breast.  The doctor suggested a mammo and ultrasound.

My mother (mind you, she has been through my nightmare), said to my sister, oh! don't worry, I don't have to do anything, it is just a small one, we will just leave it alone.  I had to call her and remind her what can happen if it is cancer and remains untreated.  She had forgotten what BC really is. 

She then quickly changed her mind and went and had a US and biopsy done.  My sister said the doctor said it is probably benign.  My sister said the lump was a round black thing on the US.

My siblings and I are sitting on pins and needles this weekend, waiting for the result next week.  My mom is on medication for high blood pressure.  Will she be able to have a surgery?  Would they consider putting her on anethesia at this age?

 I am so worried, I have waited my whole life to spend some time with her.  My retirement is just around the corner on Dec. 31, 2013, but this is all happening too fast.  In 2010, that lady at age 80, flew here to be with me during the last few months of chemo.  My mom is the most kindest and sweetest, innocent woman in this world.  This world will lose its lustre if something happens to my mom.

Could it possibly be cancer?  Could it be benign?  Could it possibly be in her lymph nodes and if so, I wouldn't ever want to see my mom get chemo. Would they even give her chemo.  She is otherwise, a pretty healthy woman.   I have a million questions in my mind.

I received great news this week... NED on my brain and lower spine MRI. I have a herniated disc (finally a cause for the right leg pain) and gall stones (already knew about those). I'm just glad there was NO CANCER!!!!!

Lovelyface - sorry to hear about your mum and hoping you get a benign result for her. On the subject of surgery it depends on whether her heart would stand up to surgery if she has high blood pressure but the anaesthetist would monitor her closely whilst she was under the anaesthetic and  you say she is an otherwise healthy lady. Many many older folk here, older than your mum,  have surgery and come through it fine and there is no reason why your mum wouldn't.    But one day at a time,  this could be totally benign.  Hoping so for you and your mum.

Kittycat - Yay!!! Great news!!!

KS -I went through menopause before I had BC.  After a year of no periods, I had a little bleeding. Even without a cancer history at that point, my gyno put me through all kinds of tests, up to and including a D&C, before he was confident there was nothing wrong.  Probably your doc is just being really careful with you.

Lovelyface - sorry to hear about your mom and hoping all is well. I've had a lot of benign breast cysts and they show up as "round black things" on ultrasound.  Hoping you get good news about that.

Titan - you are a ROCK STAR for starting this board!

Ladies, my nephew is getting married tomorrow.  He got engaged right after I was diagnosed, and all I could think was that I wouldn't be here for his wedding.  Well, I'm still here & feeling good.....planning to celebrate in a big way!

Annie, thanks for the much needed information for my mom's case.  I will give you the good news next week, keeping fingers crossed and praying really hard that it is benign.

Ksmathews- I was like that. Had to always make sure I had a pad with me. I'd have a ps every two weeks for three months, then go 6 months without them. I was so happy when I made it to a whole year!!! The periods started about 2 years after chemo and lasted about 2 years.



Lovelyface - I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Don't forget, the odds are in her favor. Calming thoughts your way.

yeah, having a rough time here. Last week we were dicussing divorvce, today I am terrifed my cancer is back. Just want to take a lot of pills and go to sleep for a long long time.

Minxie:  I can relate.  Life has been so stressful these last few months that my husband and I had talked about divorce too.  We had a few nights away together and reconnected.  The stress was just to much with us and the two kids.  I was spinning.  I hope there are happier days ahead for you and your husband.  Gentle HUGS to you xo

Today, I had 2nd post BC treatments yearly mammogram and will get results next week.  Damn the weekend.

Well my ultrasound showed I have a 4cm cyst on my right ovary. The dr does not think it is cancer.  Also my uterus shows a thick lining no fibroids or anything, but she did go ahead and biopsy it.  I find out Monday.  My 2 dr's I saw today suggested I go ahead and have a hysterectomy.  So I go for the consult on that next Friday. I am having a bladder tuck anyways so I can have all of this done laproscopic the same day..

Oh TEKA, I hope the waiting isn't too awful..weekends are the worst, hugs.

ksmatthews...that's a lot to get done, sorry you will be needing surgery. I  had a laproscopic hysterectomy and it was not to bad except for the first day. hugs.

Wow, it's heard to believe it's been two years since this thread started.  I just went to screen one and remember posting on May 2, 2010 when this "new" thread came up.  I was still wearing a wig, which I stopped wearing about four days later. Brings back lots of memories. Titan, I'm so glad you started this very active thread. You ladies mean the world to me.

Paintingmywaythru  Are you still on the Budwig Diet? If so, how are you feeling?  I am still on it and feel pretty darn good. Just have it for breakfast and eat regular meals for lunch and dinner. Hope it it working well for you.

Minxie, please hang in there - I hope things will be much, much better soon. I have had very dark times in my relationship during this past 14 months. Things are mostly better now.

 I've had pain all day in my radiated area, and under my arm where the nodes were, and a weird sensation for the past several days where I have a new awareness of my arm brushing up against my side. The pain is not at all constant - just comes and goes, but the area is tender to the touch (but that is nothing new.)  I decided it might be lymphedema starting that is causing the feeling or maybe the underside of my arm is starting to regain more sensation, and of course I'm worried about recurrence, too. I measured my arm and it is the same as the other and I can't tell any difference for certain when I look in the mirror.  I have fat arms anyway so it is kind of hard to tell.  I had a 72 hour work week with most of the time spent at my desk although when I do field work I tuck my clipboard under my BC side arm - so I dunno what it is, but it is bugging me. Did anyone else have pains and soreness post rads (my rads stopped in Oct 11) like this?  Thanks!

Ladies I need a bit of hand holding. My first taxol is due this coming Wednesday and as it gets nearer I start to freak a bit more. Can all of you who have had it tell me what your side effects were and did you have any nausea or vomiting. I really would appreciate your help if you can. Annie

Annie - I did not have any nausea with Taxol.  But my MO gave me all the same pre-meds I had with AC (an hour of hydration, aloxi, Emend, Pepcid and a little decadron).  I also got 50 mg of Benadryl via IV for the first treatment, 25 mg for the other 3.  I felt like I was drunk after the Benadryl and might have taken a nap if I had been there alone.  My DH and DD were with me, so I stayed lucid.  I got Neulasta the next day, and I took Claritin for a few days, the same as with AC.  On days 4-5, I was achy - as if my arthritis was winning the battle.  A couple Tylenol helped with that.  And I ended up taking Pepcid every day because Taxol can cause acid reflux, and Pepcid is the drug that suppresses it.  You can do this!

I had taxol and no nausea or vomiting for me.  I did have bone and joint pain which was exaggerated by the Neulasta shot I got the day after chemo.  I also had both constipation and diarrhea alternately so I had both types of med on hand.  Slept through the infusions probably from the benadryl
