Calling all TNs

OK time for me to fess up. I would rather sit in my recliner and read Navymom's to good books, and never never exercise. I am 5'7" and before chemo weighed (260 lbs), and now weigh (215 lbs). I should probably weigh (175 lbs) but will settle for ( 200 lbs).
-
Even though I started a separate thread on this, I really wanted to share this article with everyone here: http://hansacenter.com/pdfs/Cancer_and_Low_Body_Temperature_01-10-2010.pdf
-
Teka, you and me both! I am at 194 post-chemo (was at 191 for a time) and 5'6 1/2 (that half is important!) But don't tell my husband or anyone else that. I never tell ANYONE my weight!
-
Teka..that is awesome about your weight loss! I really gained the weight during chemo also! It is hard to take it off again...I started running and cut out coke and m&m with peanuts..didn't cut out potato chips though..can't do that..I have lost 13 lbs...down to 139...going to try for 135 and stick there...Still have those muffin tops though..but they aren't as big as before..I don't think they are gonig anywhere any time soon.
Husker..your secret is safe with me....my..we have alot of tall ladies on this board...I'm a shrimp compared to most of you.
Did any of you play basketball in high school or college? If I could do over I would have tried out for my high school team...I'm mad about that...I love playing sports...oh well..I got to relive it through my kids.
-
I just wanted to pop in to say hello to my TN friends. Hope all is well and you're enjoying your summer.
Jenn

Hi Jenn! How are you doing? I've been quietly lurking on the IV board, I hope you are getting some of your energy back and that your blood levels are getting better. When is your next scan? I'm keeping fingers crossed that you get to dance with NED, or at least the Stable Boy.
Titan - I'm not very athletic, although I love love love football (American). I'm more like Teka - I'd much rather NOT exercise, and I'm very good at finding reasons to avoid it, lol. The one thing I do like - running - is out, because I have a sesamoid fracture in my left foot. Boo.
MBJ - I'm going to check your thread out. My temperature seems to have stablilized and is pretty normal, but I like to stay up on all possibilities.
Husker - I won't tell
.
You know, I know that diet and exercise is important for us. And I'm trying, I really am. But I refuse to stop enjoying a wonderful, full-of-fat, well made meal every so often, and well, you can pry my wine from my dead cold hand! I do get on my elliptical several times a week, and try and walk. At some point, the exercise will come...but the diet? I may not have a ton of time left on this earth, and darnit, I'm gonna enjoy some of it!!!
-
wow wish I was one of you that lost weight I have gained 13 so far
.
Also my 3 year not till 2014.
I went and watched the dragon boat races this weekend. have any of you gone to this. They have a rose ceremony after for all of the BC survivors and throw rose petal in the lake for those who lost their battle with the beast. It was very emotional but I am glad I went
hope you all had a great weekend
hugs Kymn

tnbcruth: I have horrible foot neuoropathy too! I am 10 mos. out from last chemo and my balls of feet and toes ache and kill me...I curse this disease every day. I am on neurontin now and it does subside some of the pain.
-
Jenn: It's good to hear from you. Hoping you are enjoying some summer fun also.
Suze35: That oatmeal you described sounds wonderful. I will look for the 5 grain oatmeal. I agree with you, we should be able to enjoy a well made meal and wine at times. One of my favorite restaurants features a watermelon margarita--I have been craving one.
-
Titan- I'm with you. I am just under 5'6" and flucuate between 135 and 140 and cannot get rid of the muffin top. I did Weight Watchers a few years ago and got down to 125, but still had a slight muffin! I really need to exercise more, but just can't get motivated.
-
After having to stop chemo, due to neuropathy, my onco called and asked me to come back, in 30 days, because my ca27.29 had been going up. The doctor had never called me before, so I had the blood draw last Monday, yet he hasn't called to say what the outcome was. Waiting is the worst!!!
Karen -
Hi Jenn! Thanks for stopping in...and please stop in more..what's going on with you? Hoping and praying for good things for you...like Suze said above..NED..stable....
Has anyone done Yoga here? I hear it really helps the body..and soul...I'm thinking of signing up for a class to just try it...
-
MBJ-Can you tell me where your Low Body Temp. article comes from? I have been tracking my temp. and it's really low in the AM (94.5 today)! It's a little better at night but it's still low. I have been lucky and haven't had any pain but I've only had 3 T/C treatments so far. Did you have your pain during the chemo too or did it come only after you finished chemo?
Where is your thread? Is it under the Triple Negative Forum?
-
Hi katfin: I think I put it under side effects of Chemo:
I wouldn't recommend trying to get your temp up until after chemo, as it would just get knocked down again by your next treatment. I developed plantar fascitis about 9-12 monts after chemo and my thumbs stopped bending naturally about 3 months ago. I feel like the living dead sometimes.
-
Teka you sound like me!
-
I had neuropathy in my feet and hands during Taxol treatments. My MO stopped those treatments, and the feeling has come back, tho it took awhile. We thought everything was good with surgery, chemo and rads, but Cancer came back 2 mo. after I stopped rads. Now I have slight neuropathy from Xeloda. It sucks to have this plus lymphedema. I'd love for some parts of my body to feel normal. Probably wishing too much!!
-
Titan-I do yoga once a week. It does help with my flexibility and just loosening muscles and joints. It did take me awhile to get used to the calmness of it, tho. I am used to the loud pumping music while working out....and yoga is a workout...so the quiet, slowness of yoga was an adjustment. But I do go every Tuesday am. Whatever you do, saty away from "hot yoga" This is a class that is done with the room temperature at high heat. I find it to be dangerous especially for those of us that have been through all this cancer crap. I have a friend that is a yoga instructor and states that there have been reports of death after Hot Yoga sessions.
-
Wow Navy Mom! Thanks for the tip on the Hot Yoga...I hate to be hot anyway!
-
Hi Girls, wanted to stop by and wish you girls a great day!. It is beautiful here in Sunny California! Today is my first day back to work. I am soooooooooooooo excited!
Have a great day everyone.
-
Karen - OB, ys the waiting IS the worst. We're all with you hoping for good outcomes.
-
MonikaV: Good to hear from you-- Congrats on going back to work--exciting day for you!
Navy Mom: I thank you also for that tip--one of my friends asked me to go with her to one of the Hot Yoga classes. It does not sound fun or relaxing, if you get all hot and sweaty. I'd rather do yoga in a cool environment.
-
have a great first day Monika
hope you are all having a great start to the week.
-
Monika: I am so happy for you! Have a really great week!!
-
Onco emailed me - my tumor markers are holding steady at 50. So... I have to go back again in 30 days. I will be so happy, when I reach 90 day appointments!
Today my 11 year old, tested my fitness on the woo -my wii age is 80 :O
I like doing wii yoga. -
Good OBXK on your tumor markers..good, good news...I bet your 11 year old just loved telling you that you are 80 years old..ah well..our kids think we are old anyway...
Monika..hope your first day back at work went well for you...isn't it weird to be excited to be at work? How things change when you have gone through hell and back..work is even fun.
-
Lynn - I get that oatmeal at the grocery store "Market Basket." It tastes like regular oatmeal to me, but has a nice variety of grains. I'm a creature of habit sometimes, and have it practically every day. Keeps me regular, lol.
OBXK - I'm glad to hear your tumor markers are holding steady! DH and I play the Wii sometimes when the kids are in bed.
Susan - Xeloda and neuropathy, ugh. I start it in 2 weeks, I hope it works okay. I'll only be on it for 4 months I think though.
Monika - I hope you had a great day back to work! Small steps towards normalcy...
Titan - I'll have to give in on the yoga thing I think. My MIL is a yoga instructor, and I promised her I'd give it a try when she's here in a week. I've been holding out for some bizarre reason...not even sure why!
~~~~~~
I had a 90% day today, yay! Even squeezed in a 2 mile walk, which felt good. I'm hoping to keep up with the walking while on this next round of chemo. I was a lump last go round.
Have a great night everyone! -
Kymn - I gained too, almost 30 lbs!!! And so far no matter what I do, I can't lose an ounce - it's driving me crazy. My doc says that my low vit. D plays a part but that doesn't make it any less frustrating (ie - depressing! LOL).
I know I have to motivate myself to excercise more and maybe SHARE my wine with Suze. Maybe that will help!
-
I was diagnosed on 4.23.2010 at the age of 44 with IDC. I found the lump myself and by the time I had it removed it was 4cm. Lumpectomy June 8th 2010. 14 nodes removed 3 positive. 4 rounds of dose dense AC (every other week) followed by 12 rounds of Taxol (every week) Finished chemo on Dec 4th. Started radiation on Jan 24th with 35 rads including 5 boosts. I see my oncologist every 3 months for 2 years and then every 6 months, as he says, until he retires, for an MRI. Mammos every 6 months on affected side and every 12 months on both. Just had my first post-cancer scan and it came back with spots so off to a biopsy tomorrow....fun!
-
So sorry inmate. Let's hope the spots are nothing.
-
inmate- So sorry......... Are the new spots in the same breast or elsewhere?
