I had a visitor today. IT WAS MY PERIOD. I completed chemo Nov. 16th 2009. I finished radiation on Feb. 5th 2010. I did have a period in December. I have not had one since then. After treatment was done my OBGYN did a FSH test to see if I was POST MENOPAUSAL. That was after the December period. I was told it was a 50 and that meant POST MENOPAUSAL. I was 36 at DX. I am now 37. Would love to know if this has happened to anyone else. I AM ON MY DURN PERIOD and told POST MENOPAUSAL. It is to late in the day to call Dr. Will call on Monday. Just interested in your story of the LOVELY CYCLE post all treatments....

May God Bless Us All

I'm older than you but never got my period again after my 2nd chemo.  I did talk with a woman when I was first diagnosed and she got her period back for a few cycles and then never had them again.  I think it's just one of those things and you never can tell but you are young so maybe will be pre-menopausal again!

    Good luck!

I just finished chemo this past Wednesday.  My onc told me that it could be as long as 6 months before I find out if my period would return.  I will be having a hysterectomy on June 4th so I'll never know.

I am older than you (47 at diagnosis), but my periods stopped after my first chemo. Then a year after I had finished chemo, I got my period! My OB/GYN had also determined that I was post-menopausal. He said that sometimes women will have one last (rather heavy) period and that I probably wouldn't have any more. He was right.

cheranthia.....thank you for your reply. I just feel it is strange. When I started my treatment we started with 12 weekly taxol. The second treatment I started a period. Then NOTHING until two weeks after I ended chemo. So two weeks AFTER last FAC I started a period. So two weeks after started chemo. Then two weeks after stopped chemo. Now it has been 4.5 months since the last one. I started last night by spotting. TODAY FULL BLOWN FLOW.....lol........

I just LOVE all of u guys.....

You're most welcome, angelsabove. I know what you mean. It was very strange when it happened to me. I was at work and totally unprepared, of course. Please do call your doctor Monday. I think it's most likely nothing, but you will feel better if you get it checked out.

I was told that for younger women the period can return as late as 18 mo. after chemo. My friend had a son 2 years after treatment...she was 38!

The closer you are to menopause, the more likely it is you will go into it with chemo...

Angelsabove - my onc told me there was an 85% chance I would go into menopause because I'm 45 (turning 46 on Monday!) and nearing natural menopause age.  I've not had a period since January at the start of my second round of chemo.  Therefore, I don't expect it to return. On the other hand, a friend of mine had TNBC at 29 and did get her periods again.  It took a while but they came back regularly and she's now 38 and has had two children since her treatment.
