My wife was just diagnosed

My wife who will turn 41 on April 30th was diagnosed with breast cancer last wednesday, April 14th.

She is scheduled for a full mastectomy on Monday, April 26th at 1pm. Tomorrow, Friday the 23rd she goes in to get blood drawn in preparation for Monday. She has to begin fasting at noon Sunday.

The tumor is in her right breast and feels about the size of a normal lime, or like the length of a AA battery from side to side and top to bottom. It is in the forward part of the breast away from the chest wall and can be freely moved around.

I feel like I am in a nightmare that I can't awaken from. We don't know what stage it is yet. She said that the doctor told her they won't fully know until surgery day. From what I read on the internet about the size of her tumor being equal to a lime it could be stage 2 or 3.

But on the chatroom last night a man told me that feeling the tumor by hand isn't accurate and that the standard procedure for a tumor that truly is larger than 5 cm is to do chemo first and then surgery, thefore he said the fact that her doctor opted for chemo AFTER surgery must mean that it's smaller than it feels.

I too have read about chemo before surgery, but what I read on the subject made it seem like it was the doctor's personal preference and not related to the tumor's size. These internet sites are very confusing and cotradictory. If anyone could offer some advice I'd really appreciate it, REALLY.

I am an emotional wreck.
