I am not a triple negative lady, rather a Her2+, and I went to a lecture given by my doctor (Dr Sara Hurvitz) about the latest treatments for breast cancer.  Her lecture should be online in 2 weeks, and when it is, I will post it here when the link is available.

In her lecture she mentioned that they are looking at PARP inhibitors to treat triple negatives, and that currently Aventis has a drug which they will be allowing expanded access to, at the end of May at UCLA. Kind of like, compassionate use. I do not know what the prerequisites are to qualify. I will be seeing my doctor on the 22nd April and I will ask her for more details then.  She also said that a lot of other companies are jumping on the bandwagon and coming up with their own form of PARP inhibitors, which is good news, because there will be more treatment options available in the future.

I was on the LBBC Triple Negative conference call this morning and this was discussed.  Aventis will be making the drug available at places that are running their clinical trial (so more than just UCLA) on a compassionate use basis.  Normally to qualify for compassionate use you need to be Stage IV and have exhausted other treatments.

Asked my doc about it and he said only stage 4 or higher.

I called my Dr. and was told that the same thing as Paulding. I was even looking for some kind of clinical trial that would be available to help with lowering the reccurrence. Well was told NO nothing available. Only clinical trials are for metastatic disease......I WANT SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!

Please know that this is on a case by case basis and your oncologist has to get in touch with the drug rep.  It is not an easy process but one I'm hoping to participate in

    Blessings and hugs
