No plans for scans?

Options

I have had bmx and chemo and am now on Tamox.  I could not have radiation due to lupus dx. My oncologist has told me that they will not do any kind of periodic scans on me to screen for metastases.  I asked how they will know if it has metastisized and was told I will have symptoms.  Is this common?  Thanks.

Yes it is...!   My onc said that unless I have anything "different' they will not do scans...BUT if you insist on one I bet they will let you have one...I have that option open.

I think..that if you are feeling well don't worry about the scans...too much anxiety....plus my onc said that a scan picks up EVERYTHING..you could be freaking out about absolutely nothing.

Some of the women on here have them..they need too..some of them would rather not...I think it is entirely up to you and what makes YOU feel better.....I prefer to not put myself through the anxiety.....I go every 3 months to see the onc plus keep in tune with how my body feels..if I feel anything different..I will be on the phone for a scan immediately

Yes this is normal, but if you have any pain or symptoms that don't go away after two weeks see your onc and ask for more testing.

I've had false alarms over the years since my diagnosis but my onc has always done the scans when I needed them:)
