Is regional recurrance possible on opposite side?

Options

Hi there,

I am really concerned about my supraclavicular lymph nodes. Went to the docs a few weeks ago as my right one (same side as breast cancer last year) was swollen - he was concerned, so got an ultrasound, turned out a lot of my neck glands were up and then the next day went down with really high fever so wasn't able to go for biopsy. Fever went on over a week, and by the time I went back to the docs the gland had gone right down, so he thinks it is just glandular fever (mononucleosis) as I've had all the other symptoms of this - other glands swollen etc.

Anyway now I'm still exhausted but recovering slowly - but the supraclavicular gland on the OPPOSITE side is up (lump on neck about 3 or 4 cm above collarbone). I feel terrified by all the info on the web about these glands - and worried it is not just Mono. But reluctant to get a biopsy as I know they're not always accurate and don't want to aggravate the infection further.... help - anyone been in this situation or had a regional recurrance on opposite side to original tumour?

Thanks, GB

I came here looking for the same answer to your question.  I'm sorry that I don't have any answers - only my own fears!

Last September I had four nodes on the right (contralateral) side of my neck removed, all benign.  Now I've got enlarged nodes there again, and my doc prescribed antibiotics to see if that helped but it didn't.  I have another oncologist appt on Friday to figure out next steps.  Scanxiety is horrible - and I fear I'm headed for surgery #12 to  figure this out.
