Back surgery question..is it too soon?

Options

My daughter has stage IV BC, with bone mets.  She is currently undergoing 2 weeks (10 days) of radiation that started on this past Monday.  However, in the 3rd week her Neurologist wants to do back surgery which involves some sort of rod system attached to L3, L4 and L5 which is supposed to help protect and support L4 which is fractured but not collapsed.

I don't understand why she needs this surgery so soon after radiation therapy, she isn't very active at the moment and she is getting Zometa every 4 weeks.  In other words she is not likely to put much physical stress on her back anyway.

Have any of you had surgery immediately after completing radiation therapy?  It just seems to me that her Neurologist is rushing this surgery but I am new to BC treatment procedures so maybe it a common practice.

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions are appreciated.
