Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me?  I was given Zometa last week for the first time. 24 hours after receiving this I got sick with fluc like symptoms which were pretty rough for about 24 hours then I was fine, or so i thought. Since mid week I have had feelings on my right chest and shoulder of pain similar to sun burn.(did not have radiation on that side)  It feels like when you have a bad sunburn and your clothes touch the sunburn.  Like it hurts and tingles and some itching.   I was wondering if anyone else had this experience.

Thanks

Nancy

I had the flu-like symptoms, very mild.  I also had sinus pressure and mild headache.  However, the burning sensation/tingling was not something I had for any of my infusions, even the first one.  I don't remember being told to expect this SE.  Everyone reacts differently to meds.  Could it be an allergy?  I will be interested in seeing what others say.  Hope this doesn't last long.  Maybe a call to the oncologists office???

    Hi Nancy,

like Gitane - I have had the flu-like symptoms - especially at first - but sometimes if I have been tired or rundown - but have not experienced the tingling/burning you describe. It does sound as though it could be some form of irritation/allergy maybe not directly related to Zometa but some form of heightened response that you wouldn't have usually noticed - or it could be totally unrelated to Zometa - give it a few days - most of these strange things resolve by themselves with no intervention required.

Thanks Gitane and Fidelia I appreciate the responses.   I did google it and found on the website that 8-20% have symptoms that inlude " unusual sensations, tingling and burning"  so maybe that is it.  I will call oncologist if it does not go away.  There is no reddness or skin eruptions just an unusual feeling.  Thanks again
