I was up all night because I thought of all these questions to ask my surgeon that I didn't yesterday and he's gone on vacation for a week.  Like I wrote in my other post I just had surgery in December after microcalcifications were found on yearly mammo.  After stereo biopsy I went on to surgery to remove Large area of ADH and two papillomas.  Just had my followup MRI done Tuesday and Surgeon called to come in.  Finding was found on MRI and I have to have another Core biopsy done.  I would like to ask if this just developed in this short time . Maybe the MRI I had is more sensitive then mammo's and this has been there for years.  Stupidly I forgot to ask for a copy of the MRI report.  Maybe the radiologist put down at least an impression of what it could be.  My surgeon said no way of knowing until the stereo.  He said he would wait six months but he doesn't feel safe doing that with me because of the ADH.  I'm a nervous wreck again.

pattimay----MRIs are very sensitive and very good at picking up invasive bc, BUT they also tend to pick up everything else along the way and a lot of the "stuff" turns out benign. But if it is more ADH, it most likely has been there a long time and they just didn't get it all. ( My first 2 breast MRIs (after diagnosis of LCIS) showed some small areas of concern; radiologists didn't recommend biopsy--just 6 month f/u--I wasn't comfortable with the "probably benign", so insisted in other f/u tests. Had clear results on mammo and US which gave me more peace of mind.) It's certainly your choice to wait the 6 months if you choose, but I would go with the doctor's recommendation--they generally do not recommend biopsy unless they really feel it is necessary. Hopefully, it is only scar tissue or other benign findings. (or only more ADH--if so, you may want to talk with your doctor about closer monitoring and possibly tamoxifen for preventative measures. Feel free to PM me if you'd liek to talk.
