Mri w contrast weird thing

I had my followup Mri with contrast yesterday.  Don't know why so soon since my exsicional surgery for papillomas and ADH was only three months ago.  But anyway when I got home I took off the tape that the tech put on my right breast area right before the Mri while I was getting on table.  It was my right breast (surgery was on my left). I just assumed that she was just covering up a mole so it wouldn't look suspicious on the MRI.  But when I got home there was a soft gel like pill under the tape.  Looked like a vitamin E pill, golden color.  I'm worried that somehow this was stuck to the tape and the tech didn't notice and radiologist will think it's a growth or something.  If noone else had this attached to tape on breast with a MRI with contrast I'm going to call the hospital and ask what it was for.  I showed my husband and he said maybe it has something to do with if I had a bad reaction some pill would be attached right there to me????? Everything was normal being they put the iv in my left arm .  Can't imagine what this is.

For the life of me I cannot remember why, but both times I  had breast mri's I had the vit E tablet taped to me also.  Darn, I wish I could remember the reason, I did ask at the time.  But anyway, just wanted to let you know that it is a normal part of the procedure.

Thank you for letting me know.  I just can't figure out any possible reason for taping a vitamin(looked like that at least) to my breast.  Hope someone on this board will let us know.

I've had 4 breast MRIs----I remember then taping something in the area of my lumpectomy during a mammo, but can't remember if they did it during my MRIs or not. I'm having one tomorrow, so I 'll try to pay attention!  I've been home sick all week with a bad cold, hope I can lay still without coughing or sneezing. (I'm gonna take my Day Quil  before hand and hope for the best--I can't cancel the appt since I had to have blood drawn ahead of time because of the contrast dye.) Pray all goes well!

Thanks for writing Ann.  I don't know if it makes a difference with contrast or not.  I tried to look it up online but it was for Mri guided stereo I think or it was put on the spot of a suspicious mass.  Thing is ADH on surgery was found in my left breast with the microcalcifications. My right was clear.  Anne, I'll be praying for you.  I know I was comfortable at first laying on my stomach for a while but after the first 45 minutes my face hurt and my whole arm and hand went numb.  I also have spinal stenosis with a buldging back disc so that didn't help either.  I hope the next one is in 6 months.  Still don't know why I had to have one at only Three.  I go for my ultrasound next week.  Should be easier.  Hope it goes fast for you and everything is good.  Will be thinking about you.

I had this done also. The tablets help to identify the margin of the nipple because sometimes they are hard to see on MRI. The same idea goes for the mole- to help identify something that is already part of your anatomy.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.  I was going to call the hospital radiology dept. tomorrow and ask about this.  But they only put it on the right upper breast and not the left.  Maybe they knew the margin of my nipple on the left already from all the tests before surgery. I know when I have mammo's they always put a small round bandaid on any moles I had.  Think I'm going crazy half the time anyway going through perimenopause without thinking I had a vitamin e sticking to my breast for days and not noticing and then a tech just put the bandaid right over it . lol Think I'll have my camomile tea right now and try to sleep at least two hours tonight with any luck.

I have an mri with contrast tonite but i wondered if having a port will stop me. Does anyone know if this will get ripped out of me by the magnet? I also have a dental implant? Is this OK?

I know that there was alot of paperwork and it listed many things to check off if you have for instance work around metal that could have gotten into an eye.  Can't remember if dental plants or ports were listed .  Maybe you can call and see if that would stop you from getting the Mri .  I'm sure with the list they gave there would be many people with a lot of the things listed and hardly anyone then would be able to get an MRI.

Just to add I found out the reason the vitamin E was taped to chest.  Since the films would show right breast as left and left as right they always put the vitamin attached to the right breast so radiologist would be able to decifer which breast is which easily.
