I will be on chemo until June and then the doc told me that i will take Herceptin every three weeks for a year.

I would like to know what side effects did you have with Herceptin?

Is it real that hair don't grow that fast with Herceptin?

I have had no side effects from Herceptin--except for some cracking on the bottom of my feet.  One important thing to consider since you will be having Herceptin so long is to get a port.  I love mine and even use my port when I have scans.  BTH, amlg1, I will have my last Herceptin the end of this july--right behind you.

I had no side effects from Herceptin except heart damage.  I had to be taken off of it after 6 months to avoid further damage.  Most people have no problems, so don't worry, just make sure they monitor your heart (usually with a Muga scan, at the start as a baseline and then every 3 months).

My hair started growing back as soon as I finished A/C and went on Taxol and Herceptin, and it grew in evenly and thickly and reasonably fast, although the first few months it didn't seem all that fast (I wondered if the Taxol held it back, as it can make some people lose their hair). But it was barely fuzz at that point :)   I'm 6 months off chemo and have about 2" of growth (and have had one hair cut to even things up).  If you figure 1/2:" a month as the average growth rate, and that I had about 1/2" cut off, I'd say my hair was growing in at a normal rate once it got going.  Now I look like I just have a very short haircut (and even get compliments on it).  You'll get there too!

    Good luck to you...

I have had nearly constant nausea and/or diarrhea after finishing my last round of Taxol/Herceptin in October, but staying on the Herceptin every 3 weeks. Also, my hair fell out during the T/H treatment; however, it was one month after the T/H treatment that all my eyelashes and eyebrows fell out. They are growing back now, but that was not something I was prepared for as was the continuation of nausea. I do take the medication but I feel like it pushes the problem down to my lower intestines so I get cramps/diarrhea. Avoiding anything spicy is key for me and drinking lots of herbal teas (fennel, mint, camomile) has helped as has taking bitters.

I had my second to last Herceptin yesterday and the only side effect I have is loose stools on about Day 4. Other than that, nothing.

I do know my first Herceptin after the "Doozy Chemos" (THCP), I thought the muscle aches and tiredness was from the Herceptin. Nope. It was residual from the TCHP.

(I just realized this thread was from 2010!)

never mind that this is an old thread 😀

I've just had my last weekly Taxol with H. this week and next week I start the 3-week Herceptin. I'm glad that most people have no issues with Herceptin alone! I hope I can expect the same. My heart is OK so far, just had a check-up yesterday after 12 weeks of weekly TH.

I will get H as a subcutaneous injection, so the treatment takes about 5 minutes. I wonder how it goes...

hi I've just had week 1 of Taxol/H. It's day 2 and I think the runs are trying to start. I had mild nausea yesterday. Not looking forward to losing my eyelashes again. I lost them to Vit D deficiency and they've been coming back nicely the past few months. Well good thing I still have my falsies to put on when they go again lol

BeachMom2018 what bitters did you take? I find the herbal teas very soothing too.

Hope you all are doing well

I will be receiving my first Taxol/Herceptin infusion on the 19th. Not a pleasant Christmas season. Will be getting a echocardiogram on the 13th.
