hi girls,

i need some help with my pain. i finished chemo in october. chemo put me in menopause. i had to go off of cymbalta in december because i couldn't take it with tamoxifen. about 2 weeks after i stopped the cymbalta my body just ached terribly. i asked my onco and she said it is probably cymbalta withdrawal.

how long does this last?  i am still aching and i can't sleep at night! i take advil every night before bed. she also said it could be lack of estrogen and that i didn't go through menopause gradually. i was just put into menopause from the chemo quickly. i don't know but i'm thinking this pain should be letting up by now! i can hardly stand up from a sitting position. my legs hurt so bad.

any input would be helpful.

thanks,

diane

Diane, i'm sorry to hear you are going thru all this physical pain.  The first thing I would suggest is to get back on an antidepresant that agree's with Tamoxifen.

Timing wise, did you stop the cymbalta at the same time you started Tamoxifen?

I finished chemo in June and radiation in Spetember. Started Tamoxifen in July. I was put into chemo induced menopause. I had joint pain and pain that kept me up and hated the pain meds. I think time and 30 to 45 minutes of exercise a day helped me...I also took glucosamine tablets but once I really started exercising I found that I did not need them. I have not taken anti-depressants so can not address that. I do know that the pain became bad for me when I went into instant menopause....8 months into the tamoxifen I hate that it slows the metabolism, but the worse thing for me is the way it screws up the brain...I have read a few posts that say that got better in a year or so...we'll see.
