Insurance Coverage Phase II Clincal Trials

I recently relocated back home to continue my chemo treatments.  I just received a letter from my insurance company, saying that in my new state, and for a nominal monthly charge, the law requires them to offer increased coverage for Phase II clinical trials.

Since the cost each month is low (less than $10/each month), I'm wondering if it's worth it. My chemo will be followed by more surgery and radiation but I don't know anything yet about being involved in future clinical trials.

Is it worth adding this extra coverage for Phase II trials? I thought most clinical trials were "free"?

i was in a clinical trial in 2002; phase III. i didn't pay anything for the chemo...shots...etc.

i would find out more about the clinical trial; when i entered the trial i was under the care of an oncologist who had his chemo nurses..etc....following strict protocol. they explain all of that to you and from my experience; the insurance company wasn't involved  in billing...etc. there are specific things covered under the trail and you need to find out what that is.. they will explain when you are enrolling in the trial.  that was my experience in 2002. hope this helps.

I don't know much about insurance,  (I'm in Canada) but I was under the impression too that Clinical Trials were free. I would investigate what they are covering for.

I don't understand the "increased coverage".  I'm in a Phase II trial right now and there is no additional cost to me.  The trial covered the cost of the drug being researched plus they cover some extra scanning.  Everything else is considered standard of care and is picked up by my insurance.
