Endocrinologist

Options

OK, so after being diagnosed with breast cancer, I have become obsessed with finding out WHY my body created a tumor. My BC surgeon wouldn't / couldn't answer many of my inquisitive questions, and I am well on my way to become a certified Google M.D. Part of my quest has been to find a good, integrated medicine M.D. (not D.O.), but those seem to be rare and hard to come by these days. Has anyone consulted with an endocrinologist in their quest for hormonal balance? I know there are some here in the DFW area that specialize in bio-identicals, but I haven't decided if that is the route I should take. I am interested in progesterone testing/ possibly taking bio identicals, getting hormones in balance, etc., etc.

I am also wondering if most endocrinologists won't want to touch me because I've already had a BC diagnosis.
Thanks for any responses.

I could not find an endocrinologist who would RX compounded thyroid. My suggestion would be to find a functional medicine/anti-aging doctor. They can do hormones along with treating you as a biochemically unique person. If you go to the INstitute of Functional Medicine website, you should be able to do a search for a provider near you.

I work with a functional med doc on most things and he does do hormones, although I use someone else for hormones. I had a pre-existing relationship with a wonderful- nurse practioner who has been doing bio-identical hormones for years. I had actually started working with her shortly before my diagnosis. She does do consults all over the country and is listed at the back of Knockout, Suzanne SOmers last book. SHe has already helped a couple of people on this forum. If you want her info, you can PM me.

Yes, that practitioner is terrific. She has been rxing bioidenticals for years. She knows much more than any endocrinologist I've met.
