mastectomy or double mastectomy????

I recently had a lumpectomy and the margins still showed In-situ so my surgion is suggesting a mastectomy. I still have to meet with my oncologist next week to discuss everything but I am conflicted as to if I should have a double mastectomy or not. There has been nothing found in my right breast but if there is any possibility of that happening then should I do it now or wait? So confused. This has been a whirlwind. I was just diagnosed at the beginnig of this year and it is only March and all this has already happened. I have Stage IIA, 2 cm, triple negative, 1 lymph none tested positive. I have a 5 year old son and am worried to death over this. Any suggestions on what the best course would be? Thank you in advance.

I'm so sorry that you have to make this awful decision. Please think long and hard before removing a healthy breast because once it is gone, that is it. There is a thread started by Linda54 which is under the reconstruction forum (I think) and is about sadness from removing a healthy breast. You will get a lot of info from that thread.
