Scared... Who isn't right?

I was just diagnosed with ILC and while it is Cancer I was expecting far worse.

I had a lump that felt like it was 8 cm but it was only 2.4 due to inflammation.

I had an excisional biopsy last week and here is what the report I got back reads:

1. Infiltrating Lobular Carcinoma, Well-Differentiated
2. pT2, pNx, pMx
3. Carcinoma measures 2.4 cm
4. Amgiolymphatic Invasion is identified
5. Extensive Lobular Carcinoma in Situ is noted
6. Focus of Comedo Ductal Carcinoma in Situ
7. Mild Nuclear Atypia

I havea general idea of what this all means, I like my oncologist and it sounded "hopeful" even with the change it may be in my other breast.

Next week I am getting a breast MRI and a bone scan and some other scan and after that is in we will formulate our plan of attack I guess.

I had been lurking these boards for 2 weeks now and could not find a place where I fit in, I think this is my area.

Welcome--- sorry that you had to come here but you are in the right place.

Sounds like you are getting some good tests--have you asked for the oncotype dx?  You can get that after your surgery--- it can help you with decisions regarding chemo

Once you can get the lump out and have a sentinel node biopsy, you will definitely feel better.

After my lumpectomy, I finally felt like I could breathe and make plans.  You will get through this--- but it will take some time.  Glad you like your onc----

The MRI will help you with both breasts..... it is always good to have all the info before you decide on your surgery.

Now waiting to get my "grading" proper "staging" and whatever other tests they can throw at me.

I have never been a fan of the hurry up and wait game but apparently I don't have much of a choice right now *heh*

Welcome.

Waiting is definitely tough.  But it sure is nice when all the scans are done and you know what you have and, more importantly, what you don't have!  So many fears come from worrying about the worst. 

When is your next appt?

I go this morning for the breast MRI - WEdnesday for the complete CT SCAN of my  bones and I see the doc Thursday to go over all the results.. so not too much wait but wait none the less!

Hi Tamara,

I read on the Just Diagnosed forum that you are waiting for a second opinion and possible biopsy.  Just wanted to tell you we are in the waiting room with you, holding your hand.  The waiting really is the pits.  I hear you about the blood pressure.  I have blood pressure that is always normal, except when I am seeing my oncologist. Last time mine was right where yours was.  Please keep in touch.  Big Hugs,  G.

I hope the bone scan is clear.  Any other test we like to hear about the "bright spots" but when it comes to a bone scan, dull is good.  May your scan be dull!

Thank you both, still waiting ... I think my Onc was out of town last oart of last week so I will need to wait till tomorrow to find out.

Unless of course he asks me to go in ...   Sometimes I wish they could tell you those things over the phone instead of making you get ulcers while you wait to see them.

I already know I have cancer, now it's just grading and staging it.  I can handle it.

We shall see.
