Her2 + by IHC then dx her2- by fish test

    Hi!! I to was told I was Her2+ and after the fish test now told Her2-. I was currently on Taxotere,Carbo,Herceptin for 6 treatments. They then told me after 2 tx I will be changing toAC x4 followed by 12 weekly taxol. However, a few days ago my ONC called after telling me I was - that they are gonna run it again before my next treatment to be sure. I just hope they get it right and put me on the correct meds.

    Hi, I have been told that when a IHC test is conducted and the score is 3+ the treatment pathway is to be treated with herceptin. The medical professionals are aware that between 10-15% of wemon with Her2 3+ are infact negative , but they view this as an acceptalble satistic in treating wemon with breast cancer. This means that 10-15% are being mis treated with the drug herceptin

    On the pathology report it was borderline so they ordered the FISH test. Apparently the FISH test is better but it cost more so they only do it if they have to. I had my surgery at Northside Hospital in Atlanta Ga and apparently it's standard procedure to order FISH anytime it's borderline because the results were back long before I saw the oncologist. The FISH test results were HER-
