Could this be a recurrence already?
Hi Everyone,
I am almost finished with the tissue expansion part of my reconstruction. The fill before this last one I could feel what I thought was a corner of the tissue expander sticking out.I had a fill last Monday and asked my PS if the expander was supposed to stick out like that and he checked it and said no,it is not the expander. He said he thought it was where he had stitched alloderm to the mucsle and it had balled up in the stitching.I went to my primary care Dr for follow-up with the blood clot I have and showed him this lump and he sent me for an ultrasound at the womens center where I live,I had this done yesterday, keep in mind that when I went ot my Dr last Sept after the radiologist told me to wait 6 months for another mammogram he sent me to Col.would not send me here ,because they tend to biopsy everything when there is no need..My BS is in Columbus.I had the ultrasound yesterday morning. the girl did it and said she would show the Dr and a few minutes later the girl and the Dr(female)comes back in the room and the Dr sats down on the cot with me and says(exact words) OH HONEY! you have a mass in there, there is no way you should have a mass this soon after your mastextomies.I said what do you think it is,could it be the stitching/alloderm like my PS suggested? She was all dramatic and says NO,it is not stitching, it is a mass, it needs a biopsy. I can do the for you next Monday and have the results in a week. All this time I am thinking if there is a biopsy done I want my BS to do it.She goes on to explain to me how she would make the tiny incision and not damage the tissue expander etc.Do you want me to schedule that for you? I said No, I want you to call my primary Dr and let him know what you found before I decide anything. She finally agreed to call him and told me to get dressed. The tech came out and got me and told me my Dr had said to tell me to call him when I got home. This Dr had me scared to death,I bawled all the way home.I called my Dr and he came to the phone and told me he wanted me to go see my BS for this.I called my BS and luckily they got me in yesterday afternoon. I had to call the center back and get a copy of the disc of the ultrasound they had just did and take with me. My BS did his own ultrasound also and numbed me up and used the ultrasound to guide a needle to do a needle biopsy right there on the spot.He was able to get some fluid out and told me that normally with cancer there is no fluid. I will hear results by Thursday. He said it could very well be cyst matter around stitching but wanted the biopsy to be sure. He looked back through my pathology report and had clear margins of 4,said he would have been happy with a 2. What concerns me is this is the same spot where one of the tumors was in that breast,I had 2 in this breast(left),DCIS in right breast.Doe's this sound like cancer could be back already?I am nervous about it but trying to stay positive that it is not.I was not able to take any tamoxifen because I developed a deep vein clot after surgery and they decided to take my ovary out to stop hormones as much as possible. Thanks for any inputs you ladys have.I will know something this week. My BS is wonderful.

i think fluid sounds good. .. particularly around the stitching. I think you can be hopeful personally. We all worry so much. I wish you the best of luck.

Try not to worry ... I know its hard.... this is what we call scaniety. When the results come in, it probably will not be cancer but something that will have to be dealt with.

I just got wonderful news. The needle biopsy was benign!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They said it is just a cyst and the PS will remove it when he doe's my exchange surgery.
Wanted to share my good news!
