    Hello again,

I have been thinking that I would like to get a second opinion on my initial diagnosis of pleomorphic diagnosis from stereotactic biopsy, and then LCIS only remaining after lumpectomy.

Can any of you recommend a doctor/center that has seen the most cases of pleomorphic LCIS that could be used for a second opinion?

    Thanks so much,

    Kitkit

Minnesota had a doctor in New Orleans (I think) who was really up-to-date on PLCIS.  I will PM her and ask who the doctor was.

And Dr. Tari King at Sloan-Kettering in New York is doing a study on PLCIS, so she probably has some insight.

Thank you Cornellalum.  I will look for Dr. King.

Kitkat - The breast surgeon I had in New Orleans was the most knowledgable doctor I talked with about PLCIS. I almost started to cry when talking to him, as he was someone who finally knew about this! It also turned out that he had been a mentor of Dr. King's! His name is Dr. Alan Stolier.

Also, I corresponded by e-mail with Dr. James Waisman in L.A., a breast oncologist who specializes in DCIS and LCIS. He's written extensively on those topics. He was a great resource.

BTW, I corresponded with Dr. King, as well.

Thanks, cornellallum.  It makes sense to me why they are recommending BM for PLCIS.

I wouldn't be surprised if PLCIS incidence grows over the coming decades.  When they did one of the NSABP trials, a substantial number of LCIS had been initially diagnosed as DCIS.

    Leaf,

I totally agree with you. I was diagnosed initially with DCIS, too. And lots of pathologists are not specialized enough to identify PLCIS
