Fatigue after Chemo

Has anyone found a help for the intense fatigue after chemo?  I have heard of people working throughout chemo so I have to think many others are doing better than I am.   I have been in bed with the utmost fatigue for more than week since my second chemo.  I would welcome any suggestions.

Remember, everyone is different.  Some people can work through chemo with minor SE's and others can't work or choose not to work because of the SE's.  I stayed home for six months after surgery and during chemo.  The SE's weren't kind to me and I had a few terrible bouts of fatigue, which was due low RBC and Hemoglobins.  When the fatigue hit there were days just getting up to take a shower and read the paper required a 2 hour nap, but it happens. I would talk to the onc about the fatigue, but listen to your body and rest without guilt............your body is working hard and needs the rest.

I agree with jenn3. Rest. Chemo was really hard on me and I spent most of the time in bed just watching tv or napping. Walked across my RV to get to the rest room was exhausting much of the time, and there's no way I would have been able to work.

    Hugs and good luck!

talk to your docs.  i was wiped out. some of us are.  had one of each color blood cell (maybe!), let your docs know, and be kind to yourself.

    take care,

I went food shopping today with DH and that totally wiped me out.  I was so winded and weak after bagging and carrying in some packages.  I felt it all in my clavicle area.  I feel like it's not only the fatigue, but also my upper body strength is not there yet.

i did really well on a light diet.. lots of protein, oranges and oatmeal.  It took a while to figure out what worked for me.  Oddly I found that forcing myself to be active even when I wanted to rest allowed me to be more energetic... everyone's different tho.
