I know a few people with a similar experience and were watching and waiting to see if there was any change.  In all cases it turned out to be nothing serious and hope yours will be okay too.  The pet is a great detection for early cancer so good news nothing showed there.  I think many people have these benign nodules in their bodies but ours show due to so many scan's after our bc diagnosis.

    Good luck

I also had a nodule show up in a CT a couple of years ago after being diagnosed with BC.  This past Dec. there was a change and the onc ordered a PET scan.   The result was not good and she sent me to a surgeon. The CT said the calcifications could not be classified as benign.
The nodule was 1.5 cm.  I had lung surgery in early Jan. The surgeon used VAT which is very non invasive and took out a wedge.   It was not BC but lung cancer.  Everything turned out fine.  The 5 lymph nodes that were removed were negative.  NO chemo or radiation was needed.

I have 2 other nodules in different areas that are about 3mm.  My CT report said they were too small to be characterized accurately by a PET.  (The PET showed nothing but the nodule that was removed).  The surgeon said early detection is the key and they will keep an eye on the other 2 nodules.  He also said they may be nothing. MANY people have them.     I will be having CT Scans everything 6 months.

I did lots of research when diagnosed with BC and did the same for LC.  LC is an entirely different ball game !

A friend with stage II BC found a  nodule on CT after radiation with PET scan being negative. She was so worried she had it excised rather than wait and see. They cracked her rib and resected part of her lung only to find that it was benign. She is in horrible pain from the surgery and now has an infected incision.

    Hi everyone,

I had a 3mm nodule on my lung found in a CT before surgery in May 2008.  After surgery, chem, and radiation -- and while taking Herceptin I had another CT scan.  It could not find the nodule (or anything else).  A year later my doctor wants another CT scan to check.  I am terrified.

Is it possible that the followup CT scan could have missed a 3mm nodule -- which might be scar tissue?  Or it might have just been a piece of mucus in the first CT scan?  Or the radiation on that side might have made changes that obscured or eliminated a benign nodule?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Jo Anne

I have been having pain under my shoulder blade on my effected side (rt) and the onc sent me for a chest xray on Wednesday and it showed "something" so I had an MRI on Friday. This afternoon I learned that it was "suspicious for enlarged subcarnial and hilar nodes." I'm waiting for a PET scan appointment and terrified.
