Yes I know I should be happy as my results were the same as the 1st lumpectomy, all DCIS and no invasion, however I found out that they took so much the 2nd surgery, I feel like I am so lopsided and my nipple is pulling way to the left and caved in and my tops don't look the same and I haven't even begun radiation....blah blah blah.....My Dr. even said if he even knew that he was going to be taking this much he would have suggested a mastectomy...........1st surgery was 9 cm's and the most recent one was over 2 and over 5cm's.......16 cm's total, come on.......

Just venting!!!!!  Hoping it will make me feel better.

June your not alone. I was feeling the same way after my appointment on monday. I had 15cm taken in total. I know what you mean about the nipple. But I am happy your results are not invasive.

    YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the point to thing again. Once you've been radiated your reconstruction options will not be quite as rosy. Mastectomy, although not a major surgery physically, is something it takes a long time to accept mentally.

I also agree that you can be pleased it's nothing invasive. That is a journey that is for sure no fun.

Can you talk to a plastic surgeon? It is incredible what they can do. Whether it's after a mastectomy, a lumpectomy or radiation. Talk to one and see what they can do when all your radiation is finished. Especially if you have large breasts. They can reshape you, smaller but perkier, and you may actually like the new look better. Just go to someone who specializes in breasts.
