    Had left mastectomy in 1998 with neg nodes - AC chemo - recurrence Jan 2007 in left chest wall - chemo and radiation - HER2 test was inconclusive - Jan 2010 recurrence in right lung, biopsy was done last Monday. Now they told me, it might take until the end of this week, before they have the result of the HER2 test. Is it normal that it takes that long? I'm so anxious, because the surgeon did not remove any of the lung tumors. He said there is no point, because they are all cancer, and I needed to be treated with targeted therapy ASAP. My Onco told me to stop taking Femara immediately, because it's obviously not working.

    It took at least a week for the one the hospital lab did and then they sent it out for fish test and that took a couple of weeks.  It went to California.  I thought I was only going to have to do rads until the tests came back HER2+++.  I did Taxol 12 weekly and will finish my year of herceptin in another month.  HER2+++ would let you do herceptin along with chemo for the lung cancer.  Best Wishes  Annette

    Annette, thank you for your responds. The Her2 test came back today, it's negative. It was done by fish. I have an appt with my Onc on Monday to go over my treatment options. Good luck to you. I read in one of the forums here, that the Her2+ people have a lower recurrence risk than the Her2-, because of the Herceptin. Best Wishes, Helmie
