Is Nioxin safe to use while doing chemo?

Options

Hi, I have just done my second treatment, most of my hair has fallen out, and I was wondering if it is safe to use Nioxin now while going through the rest of my treatments?  Or is there something better or safer?  Thanks so much for answers.

I used it all through treatment. My hair dresser told me to use the "For Chemically Treated Hair" during treatment (because of the chemicals in chemo) and switch to the for untreated hair shampoo, conditioner etc, after finishing chemo. It worked well and my hair came back really nice. Good Luck!

I used it all through chemo also. It was suggested by my onc's office. Good luck!

I have been using it every day. I have some light "fuzz" remaining after tx #6.

Jenny,  I am a long time hairstylist and have worked in many upscale salons throughout my career.  Though, I don't think it would hurt to use the Nioxin, my personal belief is there are other products that are similar in nature but healthier for the scalp due to not having the "chemicals" that are in the nioxin.

I use a product called Phtologee Phytocyane which is formulated in France and is a plant based product.  It is available at Sephora and also at Ulta.  You can order from them on line if you don't have a store near you.  I would suggest that you go to Phyto.com and read about the program they have and the products that they suggest for thinning hair.

Also, there are some at the health food stores that I feel are better.  I would look for products that have no laurel or laureth sulfates in them, as that is what almost any dermatologists will tell you to eliminate when you are dealing with hair loss.  I also try to use products that have no parabens in them.

Nioxin and Minoxidil (Rogaine) type products also have a lot of alcohol in them which can be drying to the scalp.

Do some research and see what supplements may be beneficial as well.
