Had my pre-op today

all went well.  It seems I hvae a painful and palpable thrombophlebitis below my left breast (same breast that was bx) but it is away from the site of the CNB.  Anybody know anyting about this?

also, the dr. told me the area of concerns is approx 5cm of microcalcs.  at the stereo CNB they took 6 cores, now I'm having the whole thing excised.  Inititial bx was dx ADH.  What are the chances it will be upgraded?  Is 5cm small or relatively large?  the Breast surgeon referred to it as quite large.  thoughts?  thanks - getting nervous, my surgery is next week.

thrombophlebitis is an inflammation in the vein due to a blood clot. I think the chances of having anything more serious found on biopsy (DCIS, LCIS or invasive bc) are between 15 and 30%; keep in mind that means there is a 70 to 85% chance that nothing more serious will be found--hold onto those numbers, they're largely in your favor!

Thanks for the Mondor's links.  Yes, that is what it sounds like.  It hurts something terrible, LOL!

Counting down now - 5 days to go to excision!!!  three weeks ago when I got my appt., it seemed aeons away :-)
