Triple Negatives are Different-Scans Anyone???

I feel like you do and I haven't hit my year from dx mark yet--June 1. I'm pretty sure I will be the same way. I want a brain scan- even for a baseline comparison. I'm having my hip scanned on Friday for pain I've had since October. I feel like I have a secret worry that no one wants to talk about. Don't want to upset anyone further and my kids (ages 13 daughter and 7 son) have been throught the grinder with this. What would I do without this blog?? So happy about your steady, optimistic progress. don't forget to breath:)

My tumor was tiny and the first thing I noticed on the ultrasound was that there was a tiny blood vessel developing near the tumor!! I was freaked out by that. Ya just can't trust this stuff. I agree that I would rather catch it with a scan any scan versus find the hidden tumor that no one knew was there.

Liv vienigel- Thank -you for stating again that tumor and nodes is not a factor in triple neg.
I have done so much research on this my head could explode.

Well, I had to fight for them, but I will have a CTscan tomorrow and a Bone Scan on Monday. I am relieved. I'm just not comfortable waiting until I present with symptoms, ie. seizures, shortness of breathe, broken bone or rectal bleeding 0.0 so I made a big stink just short of asking for a referral to another onc. I think they heard me

Maine- good for you!! I was I guess lucky that way I didn't have to beg or even ask. I had my 1st official pet/ct scan today and will know Friday if I am all clear. I will say I was on edge waiting to get there and my stomach was in knots for 2 days but I do infact feel somewhat better. I am 1 year out from my dx. So I am still reliving parts..which may be another reason for my mood. I was just thinking today on my way home ..last year while waiting for my BC dx I went and bought 2 pairs of shoes something I never do but thought my life is NEVER gonna be the same.
You have to keep on top of your Docs and if something dosent feel right change it or question it over and over again.

I chose to have a lumpectomy followed by rads 2 yrs ago. My Dr OC tells me I will know if it spreads by getting real sick like the flu, fever thats how I will know. He does'nt like to give scans its dangerous for us TN he says he says he can tell by my blood tests.
Well now i have a bloody discharge and my surgeon is taking over he sent me for a mam and that came out clear now he wants me to have an operation to stop bleeding and biopsy. IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO ME. Nobody said any thing about this symptom. I do not feel sick. So am I ok?

Oh Mer,
I'm sorry you're dealing with this! I'm not sure what your doc means by saying scans are dangerous for TNs, but does he see anything concerning with your blood tests? I'm glad the mammogram was clear! Do they have any thoughts on why you'd be having discharge this far out from your surgery? When will you be having the surgery/biopsy? Hopefully it'll turn out to be something unrelated to your BC!
As I understand, mets can present with a big variety of symptoms, and some people are completely asymptomatic and mets are found on a routine scan. Especially with TN, it seems that breast discharge is NOT a common symptom of recurrence, but it's good that they're working it up to see what is going on.
Best of luck to you. The waiting stinks, but we're all here to wait with you.... keep us posted when you have a chance!
