Mom has mucinous carcinoma

Hi everyone..since my mother is legally blind I am trying to get as much info online about this as I can. This forum suits her since she is 65. She has just been diagnosed with mucinous carcinoma..further tests are coming at the end of the month along with appts with radiologists and oncologists. I have no idea what stage etc, and I guess that is determined after more biopsy or tests? The biopsy that found this was from something that never showed up on her mammogram. She originally went to the dr to check on calcifications shown on the mammogram and the dr felt this other lump while she was there. So, I guess I am just trying to see if anyone else around her age has this same type. Also, seeing as she has so many other health issues, (diabetes, renal failure, etc) I am hoping that she doesn't have to endure any radiation or chemo. If it is such a slow growing cancer, I pray they can remove it with a lumpectomy.

So sorry to hear about your mom. I hope, too, that she doesn't have to endure radiation or chemo, especially given her other health issues. But if she does, it's a good thing that she has someone like you there to help navigate her through this. She is in our hearts. I don't have much info to give you since I don't know much about that sort of cancer. Mine is an invasive duct carcinoma and I'm only just now going through the tests and oncologist meetings, etc. I do know that once you get the biopsy results back you should have a better handle on everything. All my best to the both of you!

Hi again...just a few questions on the tests they do. She is having that vacuum biopsy done Feb 22..that is to remove the tiny calcifications they saw on the mammogram..then March 5th she has surgery. Now, is this the surgery where they remove what they can, check nodes, and then we get the final path report? I mean the report that would state stage, grade etc? Is it an easy procedure to get through? Thanks for dealing with all these questions..I have yet to meet her Dr, or I would ask!
