No gene mutation, what does that mean ?

My test result from the metabolizing test said that I have no gene mutation in my blood.

I got the phone call from the private lab officer and she said I should contact my onc to have all the detailed results, but the lab person said, that having no gene mutation should mean that the drug ( tamox )  should work.

Well, my question is, I read that it is put in 3 categories, either poor, interm. or extensive metabolizer,-- well, having no gene mutation means what now, which category am I, any idea ???

I will se my onc next Wednesday, but would love to hear from any input of you.

Thanks

    Mamita,

I think you had a CYP2D6 test which evaluates how well you metabolize tamoxifen (and certain other drugs) in your liver.  If the results say that you have no mutation, I think that you are an extensive metabolizer and will metabolize tamoxifen well.
