Meridian Medical Group - Drs Chan & Yee in NYC

Has anyone gone to Meridian Medical for treatment or a consult?  My PCP recommended seeing Raymond Chan or Pam Yee, but they're hideously expensive.  I can't afford it at the moment, but was thinking about seeing one of them in the future.  Has anyone had any good or bad experiences there?

I saw Dr. Raymond Chang for two-three years.  My experience with him had its benefits and its bad points.  First of all, he has the personality of a tree stump.  No bedside manner of any kind.  That didn't bother me that much, because I get all the "medical nurturing" I need from my other doctors.

I didn't even mind paying the unreimburseable money as I only saw him every 5-6 months.

What made me decide to stop going to him was something I feel was unforgivable... and truly surprising for a complementary/alternative practitioner.

I had been NED for my Stage IV BC for three years.  Once I started progressing again, it was very unaggressive yet persistent.  Of course, it was imperative that I find something that worked. Dr. Chang believes in mainstream treatment... he just believes there is more that can be done.

Yet, when I told him of my latest progression and the fact that the treatments I had tried were not working (including his own!!), I said to him, "Well, I still feel well... I got that going for me".  His response was...

"Yet your cancer marches inexorably forward with progression"

Not only did he negate the fact that feeling well was "something"... he actually made it sound like I was a GONER.  Moreover, once progression started... he did not change the protocol he had me on one iota!!!!

So, I decided I did not need HIS negativity influencing my emotional state and I cut him loose.

Truly not a nice, empathetic or even hopeful guy.

BTW... he hid it well..but I have a very sensitive nose.... HE SMOKES CIGARETTES!!!  It's a do as I say... not as I do mentality.  I felt like I could give him advice in not getting lung cancer, emphysema and not passing second hand smoke onto his wife and children!!

There you have it.  My personal experience with the famous Dr. Chang.  Meanwhile, that conversation was two years ago and guess what... I AM STILL ASYMPTOMATIC.. but no thanks to him.
