Has anyone tried the Mediterranean diet and if so, any recommendations for cookbooks?

    Hi Rita,

I've never tried the Mediterranean diet, but know that people from that region have one of

the lowest cancer rates.  I don't mean to take your post off-topic but did you know that

Mexico was the #2 country in the world with the lowest cancer rate.  When I saw them listed

I practically fell out of my chair.  Their diets consist of a lot of what the US considered

a poor diet, yet their cancer rates are low.  The more I thought about it, and this is

just my unsubstantiated explanation is the amount of corn they consume.  Corn is

naturally an estrogen inhibiting food, in addition they eat alot of flour which combined

with water becomes a paste or glue that digested also blocks the absorption

of estrogens.  They also eat alot of peppers, and I read one study that stated

peppers actually inhibit the growth of tumours.  Which led me to think about my

yard, I use a corn-glutton derivative on my grass for organic weed control, it

doesn't kill the weeds but overtime, prevents the reproduction and spread of weeds.

Have americans beed duped by our health leaders about white bread and flour

and low-carb diets.  I took a look at what's on the grocery shelves and companies

now use exclusively SOY or SOYBEAN products in everything.  I dare you

to find one thing that doesn't contain soy.   I am now consuming more corn

and flour products and positively do not buy anything with SOY in it.
