question on 'scoring'

When does the bs know your grade?  I am talking about the nuclear grade 1,2 or 3.  Forgive me if I am saying it wrong...all so new to me.  I am wondering if I have to wait until after my lumpectomy to find out or if they know from the biopsy.

thanks

I found out from the biopsy.  It may not have a number, it just may say low, medium or high grade.  My report said high nuclear grade.

My biopsy gave all the preliminary results.  All ended up being the same when they retested after the mastectomy except they upgraded it from a grade 2 to a grade 3 (bummer) but the hormone receptors and Her2 status was all done wiht the biopsy as well.

I think grade is pretty subjective, though, so even though the biopsy gave me a grade 2( it was really only one point away from meeting the grade 3 criteria. )  So it really wasn't that much of a difference when it got changed to grade 3 (only 1 point difference) and had it been read by a different pathologist, it might have still been a grade 2.

    Low - 1

    Medium - 2

    High - 3

Biopsy should give you a grade, and whether you are Estrogen and/or Progesterone sensitive. (ER/PR + or - ).

DCIS doesn't get tested for HER2 status.

Thanks everyone.  My apt with my surgeon isn't until Wed.  I am thinking I will call Mon and see if they will tell me my score.  I just want all the info now!  It's so hard not knowing all the facts.
