My response to breast cancer
I wanted to touch base with people here on breastcancer.org about a feature film I've written and am trying to produce called, "Face the Sun". It follows a young family confronting a misdiagnosis of breast cancer.
I started the project after losing a close friend of my wife's to breast cancer. She was misdiagnosed at 29, "you're much too young for breast cancer, it's nothing." We lost her at 34. If you go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERzuj84E7Mw you'll see a video that gives you more of the background the film. It is my intention to have a significant portion of the net revenue from the film flow through to cancer organizations as a tribute to her, and the many women who have bravely fought this devastating illness.
I've also started a Facebook page, Face the Sun, the Movie, to help keep people up to date with our progress, and the film website is up and running, http://www.facethesunmovie.com.
Take a look at the clip, and the page, and let me know what you think. Together we're making a difference. Thanks for your time.

Hi Mike - I am very interested in seeing your film. Checked out you tube & will also check facebook. Your concept holds a special interest for me. I was also misdiagnosed at 43. Told the same thing. I was too young. It's nothing. I had microcalcifications & the doctor would not do a biopsy. By the time it was diagnosed 1 1/2 years later it was in my lymph nodes & I had stage 3. But, still I am so much more fortunate than many women.
I am learning of too many women being misdiagnosed both in Canada & US. (I am in Wpg, MB) If women were dx correctly when they first have a problem, the outcomes for this horrific disease could be substantially altered.
My family has also done some fund raising. We constantly hear early detection is the key. My goal is to somehow make an impact on the medical community to reduce the number of women that are misdiagnosed. If you have any knowledge of boards that I could go to I would really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
Bev Martin

Dear Mike, what an incredibly beautiful tribute. But I am so sorry you all had to go thru this at all. Blessings, SV

Bev, thanks so much for your kind note. This process has been so humbling for me, to hear from women like yourself, the families of others, all with so much courage and dignity in the face of such a battle.
We're working hard to get as many people as we can to visit our website, http://www.facethesunmovie.com, so we can demonstrate to our list of potential investors that there is a market for a film like this. Anything that you can do to refer people there, or to our Facebook group, 'Face the Sun, the Movie' would be incredibly helpful.
If there's anything I can do, please don't hesitate to contact me.
