Which cosmetics are not safe for ER+/PR+?
I am ER+(strongly positive)/PR+. I've been trying to find good information on which cosmetics to avoid because they contain estrogen. So far I have not succeeded. The labels on the cosmetics packaging is all but impossible to decipher.
Does anyone know of a reliable source for this kind of information? Are there brands to avoid? Brands to love? Help!!

Thanks, Kim. Great site - a lot of information is geared towards Canadian audience. Wonder if something similar is available for the US.
Also learned a few things so I will try again to read the labels for ingredients:
Nonylphenols: estrogen-mimicking chemical, used for its detergent properties. Found in shaving creams, shampoos and hair colors. Often found in acrylic nails. Some manufacturers have voluntarily discontinued their use.
Parabens: An estrogen mimic, parabens are preservatives with antibacterial properties. Widely used in all kinds of personal care products, paraben is usually preceded by the prefixes methyl-, ethyl-, butyl-, or propyl-.
DBP, a phthalate: In many nail products. Estrogen mimicking plasticizer - may accelerate sexual development in young girls.
cinnamates and benzophonones: often found in sunscreen products, have hormone-disrupting activity (not sure what this means)
Phthalates: found in many products from plastics to shampoo. Hormone disruptive chemical. Suspected of contaminating breast milk and causing damage to the kidneys, liver, lungs and reproductive organs. One type - diethyl phthalate (DEP) - is commonly found in fragrances and other personal care products. Manufacturers are not required to list phthalates on product labels.

I think anything that is organic with no soy would be ok. I have switched my shampoos, conditioners and toothpaste to the "Jason" Brand. They don't contain soy and you can find them in Walmart.
