Patti, I am assuming you are talking about bone metastases from your primary breast cancer? If this is the case that YES, YOU BET....and bone only mets carry a very good prognosis. I was diagnosed in October 2009 and I'm doing well. I was symptomatic and my PET/CT showed extensive bone mets and so I had some issues initially with treatment but I am now doing well with little to no symptoms. And, my latest circulating tumor cell count dropped from 46 to 2...so good news. Give me more info and if bone mets, let me know. I would be happy to share my treatments, what my doctors said. You will also find a lot of wonderful women who will be happy to stop by and provide you with a lot of support and information. They are absolutely awesome. Hang in there.

Hi, Patti. I hate to say "Welcome" because no one wants to be a member of this club; but we are a great group of women if I do say so myself. I also have bone mets only to my spine. I am currently on Femara and get monthly infusions of Zometa. I have very few side effects and really feel great. My last scan in December showed that my cancer is stable and seems to be healing. I did have rads to one spot and completed that in October. My onc tells me that there are many options especially if the cancer is hormone sensitive. Many women on the stage 4 forum are living years with bone mets and many with mets to other areas as well. Someone just posted recently that she is a 17 year mets survivor! So, yes...mets to the bone is very treatable.

Hi Patti4511
Sorry to hear this news - the bone mets respond very well to Zometa- the spots behind your retinae are they also in the bone? What hsa the onc recommended apart from Zomenta - as everyone has said there are a lot of options for hormonally responsive disease - after the horrid news - the rest of the news and the treatments are much better
