On my birthday last week I signed for a certified letter. I couldn't believe it - it was from my Mom who passed from breast cancer last April!  She signed up with a company that archives letters and then sends them to the addressee on a certain date. This was my favorite birthday present this year. My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, had a mastectomy and radiation treatment and was in remission for almost a year. Then the cancer reappeared and had spread to her bones. She missed seeing the birth of her second grandchild. :( I miss my Mom and think of her every day. The letter I got from her is just the greatest. I hope she arranged to send more. I hadn't heard of the Forward Touch company before this.

Wow, how wonderful.  What a wonderful, thoughtful gift your mother has given you!  Something similar happened to me.  My Mum died of ovarian cancer in November 2001.  At the time she got sick she was taking a paper tole class.  She had already made pictures for my two sisters and was working on mine when she got ill for the last time.

Unbeknownst to me she had her friend finish the picture for me.  The friend delivered it to my sister who gave it to me at my other sister's surprise birthday party.  On what would have been my parents 50th anniversary I received my completed picture.  It is of a snowy owl and is an absolutely beautiful piece of art.

Your mother was so thoughtful to do this for you.

I didn't know that there were places that  will do that.  How wonderful!  After my daughter died, I found a letter that she had hidden for me.  It is framed now.

I just found your post...I lost my mom to ovarian cancer December 22, 2004.  What your mom did for you is such a wonderful gift.  I did not know such a thing existed.  I have some of the letters my mom wrote to me over the years but I wish I had them all!!  I love looking at her handwriting--it is such a personal expression of who she was.  I am sure you feel the same way looking at the writing in the letter.

The same to Bmac--looking at the beautiful artistry that was created by your mother's hands must be so comforting and poignant.
