I amnew to cancer diagnosis, treatment and discussion board. I am building a ton of friendships and when people write me I feel it only polite to respond. But, i am getting a computor generated message from Cancer.org stating that "my account only allows for five posts in any 24 hour period." What is up with that? MJ

    StillVerticle,

I'm really sorry about that.  That policy was instituted because one summer BCO was overrun with "bot" attacks that were obscene and vile (and seemed to be at a rate of 100 posts per minute -- anyway, you couldn't see any real conversations, just obscenities or nonsense on the first few pages of every forum -- this wasn't like usual spam of a few "buy new shoes" ads).  I guess the 5-post limit was the only technical fix BCO could think of.

If you post 5 times every day, you will soon get enough posts so that the limit will be lifted and you can post as much as you want.

In the meantime, you can send as many PMs (Private Messages) as you want -- click on the name of the person you want to write to, you'll get their Profile Page, and then on the upper right it will say "send member a private message."  To pick up PMs sent to you, click on "Private Messages" in the black box near the top of the screen (to the right, in the row of black boxes that say "Forum Index" / "Active Topics" / "My Home" / "My Favorite Topics" / "Private Messages").

    Hugs,

    Ann

I have logged 55 posts and still am getting the little pink "you are only allowed 5 posts in 24 hours" bar, and then am unable to send submit the post. What's up with that? Have they changed the rules (and if so, what are they?). Do I need to contact someone to say 'I've done the required 50 posts (and if so, who?)?  Really, the rules for newcomers should be listed somewhere (I've looked through the Discussion Board Rules several times and haven't found a thing), because it is quite frustrating to find things out purely by trial and error. Any suggestions on what I should do next would be appreciated. (I hope 24 hours has passed so this will be accepted, ARGH!!!)

Hey Ruth, I stomped my feet and went right to the tech crew at BC.org to complain. I simply emailed them and they could not have been kinder. Nor resolved the situation so quickly. They changed my "settings" immediately and now I am a "free range BC pod." Go for it because they try to help immediately. Big Hug,

    Ruthbru,

It can be hard to find out how to contact the moderators.  You can try sending a PM to Melissa, whose membername is: Moderators

    Her profile page is
    http://community.breastcancer.org/member/56097/profile

You can also try the tech webmaster, Niki Konkoly.  Her membername is:
    bco_admin3

    Profile page is: http://community.breastcancer.org/member/33144/profile

Or you can email her at: webmaster@breastcancer.org

Thanks Ann, I did contact the moderators, and got a response from Melissa, who said she 'tweaked' something. I believe this is my 5th post in 24 hours, so I will send it, and then try another one (if you don't see two in a row from me, it didn't work Surprised....)
