My Son made me cry yesterday
I had to share this with you all. My son Travis is 13 years old and he has a school project for Fine Arts to do. It is called the "Song Project". He had to pick four songs and explain how the song connected to him. He was having a hard time trying to pick out the songs so I brought up some events like the KISS concert he went to this past summer and our trip to Disney a couple of years ago.
He sat and thought for a moment and said "I have the perfect song" . With that he left the room and came back in about a 1/2 later. He had written as to how this song connected to him and this is what he wrote.
"My mom is a 1 year Breast Cancer Survivor. She has been through the fight of her life. If I could take the cancer away from her or take the fear of it coming back from her, I would. She is my mom, my step-dads wife and she is a daughter. My mom has always been there for me, even when she was sick from chemo, she was always there. My mom is now feeling better and is doing some fundraising for breast cancer. I ask her why she is doing this and she told me with hopes of someday finding a cure. I hope they find a cure for Breast Cancer. I love my mom so much. She is my inspiration"
Needless to say, after I read what he wrote, I broke down and cried. You just never know what your kids are thinking.....
This is the song that he chose. Listen closely to the lyrics....

Kids, eh.

I not only have tears, I'm full on crying! (and at work!) Sometimes I feel so alone in this journey, it feels so good to realize again there are people out there writing songs, raising money, volunteering, etc. all for this cause.
What a wonderful son you have raised kim40. How proud you must be.

WOW
I have a 12 year old son and it continues to amaze me the depth of their feelings. So much for a child to have to go through! I am very happy for you that you could have this connection with him, what a beautiful moment in time.
-
Thank you. My son is my world and for 13 years old, as you can probably gather, we are very, very close. He is a very mature young man and brings a smile to my face each and every day. I am so proud of him.
-
Wow, Kim. Wow. You should post this on facebook, too. Awesome!
-
I'm crying here too -- hugs to you and your wonderful son, Kim. The band's story of the song is incredibly moving, too. Wow.
-
Beautiful, Kim. He's a wonderful boy and you are an incredible mom.
-
Kim - you have a lot to be proud of - very touching.
My daughter is in the midst of applying to various colleges and her college essay is about how we as a family have dealt with my cancer and how inspiring I have been to her. Like you I was in tears by the time I reached the end of her essay. Our children are amazing!!!!

Beautiful. When I was first diagnosed and had surgery, my eldest son who was twenty was very quiet about it. Then a few weeks later he gave me a CD with a song that he wrote for me. He writes songs all of the time, but this was extra special. In the background, he took from a DVD that we had the words of me calling him when he was a baby. He dispersed this through these beautiful lyrics that he wrote about our relationship. Talk about tearjerker. The disease sure sucks, but the love from our boys is incredible, huh?!! God bless----

What a wonderful young man, be really proud of him and remember it when he is being a teenage boy. (((((((KIM))))))))
My DS has been great - I get the hugs from him. The girls have been incredible but my son quietly would sit with me and then just put his arm around my shoulder. So I know how you feel.
Its hard to not cry.
