I'm starting to grey really bad.

I'm a little hesitant to dye my hair though. Good? Bad? I just don't know.

My chemo hair came in white w/steel grey. It would have looked great...if I were 75. I waited around 10 months to dye my hair, and I had it done by a professional (I won't even recount the disasters I've created trying to dye/style my own hair). She did a great job, and I haven't experienced any damaging.

Prior to chemo, my hair was mostly brown w/grey coming in. I could handle that. I just couldn't live with being suddenly completely grey at 50.

I had my hair highlighted and low lighted when it was very very short (3 months after chemo was over) because it made my style look more "intentional".  I still have it highlighed every few months and do natural instincts in between.  Some things I am just not willing to do without - veggie burgers, yes.  hair color, no.

try a temporary.. the real dyes bleach your hair first and may be too harsh.

    do you have 'new' hair?

My hair has seen some type of color since it was a tad over an inch long.  I'm with Mary..I am not going to give up coloring my hair.  I think the first time it was colored we used a stain rather than a dye.  She said it was gentler on the hair.

My hairdresser has dyed chemo hair for 15 years. I had mine done at 6 months. I am all for do no harm, organic, natural, sans chemicals etc. etc.---- but I figure that after the chemo and radiation and the tamoxifen ---- how many things are worse that that!

Some hair dyes are safer than others.  You might want to check out whatever you plan to use for its safety (compared to similar products).  I try to stay away from any product that has a high rating because there are alternatives available.  Deanna
