Our new girl needs some support!
Hi Girls, I have been in contact with Feroza our new Stg. 3 girl. She is having the bone scan and chest x ray today. Please send her good wishes, prayers, healing vibes, warm hugs and words of support. She is going in alone today and will need all we can give her.

Feroza ~ Although we are not with you our supportive energy is there. Draw some comfort thru that. I too was very nervous about these tests and the possiblity of what would be found. Turned out that I was clear. Just hang in there girl.

Many thanks for all your support - I have one more SYMC test to be done on the 18th and then for the results on the 22nd.
However, there was one very interesting thing I learnt today - the tumor is of grade 3 because it is 2.3 cm - I dont know what stage I am cateogrized - with all the tension I misunderstood between the grade and stage.
But I love being here with all of you and look forward every day for your emails and support.
Thanks a lot - and especially thanks to "let it be for being the champion in our fight against BC.

I am triple negative- and require 6 session of Chemo every 3 weeks - I have excellent viens -
do I still need to insert the port - I beleive the port has to be drained and you cannot shower etc.,
Has anyone taken the chemo without the port?

Hello Feroza, certain chemothrapy drugs are vesicants, and cannot be infused into a periferal vein, and need to be infused into a central line or port. The port does not have to be drained... and you can take a shower just like you normally would. I have had my port since last April. Other than having a scar where it was incerted, you can't tell it's there. You can see pictures if you google port-a-cath. Talk to your MD about what type of chemo you will have, and if it can be infused into an arm vein. Much love! Jessica

Feroza Sorry - I'm just seeing this, glad your test went well. I have a port (in my chest) and am glad I had it. It didn't bother me and at times I actually forgot it was there.
-
I'm glad you reported in Feroza? how did you choose that name?
(i really like my port.. it's been totally problem free
-
Feroza - I had 6 rounds of Chemo (FEC-T) with no port. They are not used routinely where I got my Chemo.
I did fine. Sometimes it took 3 goes to get the IV in, but they always found a vein.

Feroza -- thanks for the news that your tests, so far, haven't been too bad. My memory tells me that the waiting is much harder than the actual testing. I had a port for chemo (Cytoxan and Taxotere) and most of the time I didn't even know it was there. I never had to drain it and there were no restrictions on showering, bathing, etc. The port was removed at the same time I had my exchange, about 2 months after chemo ended. Thinking about you and wishing you the best. Bonnie

Feroza,
I had A/C and Taxol without a port. I asked me doc if I could do it without a port and she said it looked like my veins were good so we could try it. If we ran into trouble I would have gotten a port but as it turned out I did well without one. But...everyone who I know who had a port was glad they got a port.
-
Hi Feroza,
Glad to hear all your test went well. I had a port from January to August of this year. It is not bad at all and you can shower and do not need to do anything to it. It does leave a small scar but no so bad. Hang in there and I will be thinking of you. We are all here if you need us.
-
Feroza I have only just seen this thread. I'm glad your tests were not too bad. I also had 6 rounds of FEC-T chemo without a port. I had good veins and the nurses had no trouble inserting the IV.
