Post-chemo Hairstyles????

Hi all, My 23 year old girlfriend is starting her first chemo treatment this Friday. I have been searching and searching for a young stylish head scarf for her. I think I have been to about every site there is, some of which seem quite expensive. Does anyone have any tricks that are just as effective or a particular brand they prefer? So far I have one site I have found that seems like it may be a good choice, can I post it as a recommendation or is that not OK?-K

Its great that you're being so supportive to your girlfriend. Sorry she has to go through this, but wiht your strength and support she'll be fine. It will be a rocky road for you both but be strong and you will both come through it.
If you were in the UK i could suggest calling in to your local macmillan centre. They have loads of head attire to cover all age ranges. However i realise this is an american site so that probably isn't an option for you. If your feeling artistic you could try a bit of tie dye and make your own young patterns. Anything on cotton will be fine. Alternatively you could try motorcycle accessories. There are bandans, i'm not sure what they would be called in america but they are basically like cotton tubes that can be pulled over the head for around hte neck. They are very versatile and can be used to cover the head as well rather like a beanie hat.
Good luck and thinking of you both.

My last chemo was October 6th. I had naturally curly hair before I started chemo. Now it came it poker straight... not a wave or a curl anywhere. I'm haveing the reverse problem that everyone else has. I don't know what to do with straight hair.

Veggy, don't give up yet.
You're only 4 months out from chemo. At that point, my hair was straight too. (Turn back to the previous page for pics.) It didn't turn curly until 5 or 6 months after my last chemo tx. That's when it really took off. Now, at 20 months post-chemo, it's back to my pre-chemo color and (lack of) curl.

Hi Ladies,
Here are photos of my curly hair.
I have trimmed it twice. Finished chemo last May but only began to go wigless in October.
I just love my curly hair. It will surely be missed.
Hugs,
Francine

Veggy, I think it will curl up eventually. I have naturally curly hair which I always would blow-dry straight and when my hair grew the first few months it was straight - I was actually excited. However, once it got to a certain length it was even curlier and somewhat unmanageable - I'm still trying to transition from a wig back. Hang in there - I think your curl will come back with a vengance!

This is my hair several months after chemo. I just put a little gel in it and that's it. It's now a good inch or more longer, and I'm ready for a trim. The white is growing out, leaving brown mixed with grey in its place. I was always curly, so I don't think that'll change. I love it short and may keep it this way.

This is my hair 7 months (31 weeks) past chemo...I have colored it and added highlights and I have cut the tip ends off every 4-5 weeks since chemo ended. Sorry the pic is so big, I don't know how to make it smaller!

Hi everyone this is my first post. Has anyone had the experience of straight prior to chemo, come back in curly, and then change back to straight? This what I'm hoping for. My hair is about 3 inches long and I hate the mix of curls, waves and few straight areas. I was diagnosed with IDC stage III in Feb/2012. I finished chemo in June/2012. I've noticed no one has posted in a very long time. i hope this is still active. i want my straight hair back! I have yet to even get a trim. Any info on this will be appreciated.

I was curly for about two years....and then in one haircut I was perfectly straight. Very strange! I enjoyed the curls while they lasted, but was glad to get back to 'normal'. Find a stylist who is an expert with curly hair. She/he should be able to give you a cute cut and tips on how to manage it.

My hair is coming back the same texture that it has always been - cowlicky and wavy, thick, not curly or straight. I have always had long hair so I am really struggling with this. I was just looking at YouTube videos on how to style short hair. I'm going to try some of what I saw tomorrow morning; if I have time I will post a photo of how it turns out. I'm so glad to have hair again! but learning how to style it is quite a chore.

My last chemo was March 23rd and today is July 8th. I have some hair growth it covers my head, but it is growing very slowly and I am so tired of wearing the wig to work!
