Had Dorsi Lattisimus and lift
I need some advice. First, I had surgery 5 weeks ago to reconstruct using the Dorsi Lattisimus on one side and just an implant on the other. Very happy with the side that just had the implant. After 2 weeks of recovery my Plastic Surgeon called to inform me that she is no longer in practice due to the health board and recommended some one she knew to take my drains out and finish any revisions. I got my drains out last week where he told me that one side is larger than the other and higher than the other. I said fine, I would like the larger side to be matched. He said, "That would be fine and we can talk about it." Today when I went he told me that the larger side is too large and we cannot do anything to the smaller side because it has radiated skin. I refuse to have more intensive surgery, especially on my lift side which has no scars. My question is 1.) How long can I wait to get the port to the implants out? 2.) Is this good advice or should I seek someone else out? He told me the nipple gets done around 6 weeks out. My other doctor told me it is at 6 months 3) Who is right??? Thank you I am in tears tonight.

Wish I could say something to help you have a better New Year's Eve. I am a bit hazy on what you had done exactly--did you have a tissue expander with port on one side? Well anyway, I had a Lattisimus Dorsi on my mastectomy side and a tissue expander on the other and they match fairly well, not perfectly, however. It was 3 years ago.It was four months before I had the nipple done on the Lat. Dorsi side. I just want to leave you with a couple of thoughts: It is such a shocking bummer you lost your plastic surgeon in the middle of your job! You aren't the sizes yet that you will be, I think you are still healing.I would sure go with another second opinion if that is possible for you. You are going to be living with this job for a long time! It will always bug you if you hate it. Feel welcome to pm me with more details, sounds like what you had and I had are very similar.

Corinne, I think your post ended up in the wrong forum. This forum, "Breast Prostheses and Reconstruction Alternatives," is for women who are "opting out of breast reconstruction." We're the ones who declined reconstruction, in favor of going flat or wearing a breast form (or forms).
You might get more help if you go over to the forum with the title, "Breast Reconstruction". It's the one right above this one on the main list (I think).
